There’s over 10 and a half million people in Georgia, and nearly 7% of them struggle with alcohol or drug addiction. That’s a significant number of people struggling with alcohol and drug addiction in the state of Georgia, and simply put there’s not enough treatment options available. So what we’d like to do is go over that option. The better educated you are about the substance abuse problem, the better chance you have at permanent recovery. We have a number of resources available to help you.
We also do in person interventions, where we send someone to you. When you find an interventionist in Georgia, we send someone to you to do a live intervention with the help. A lot of times people will look through the information and they do the intervention course and they decide, wait a minute, I think I need somebody here that can help me because you need someone who’s not emotionally connected to your loved one, to get them into treatment. The emotions are what get in the way of effective help or getting the person effective help, and I know this from personal experience because I’ve had family members that I’ve had to do interventions on, and this is what I do for a living. And when it comes to your family, the emotions get involved and it alters the judgment. It affects the dynamic of the intervention. So having a neutral party involved and to help you run control, maintain your own control as well as control the situation. So you’re being proactive and not reactive during the intervention.
And it’s very important, but there’s also a number of treatment options that you need to be aware of that are in the state of Georgia. Number one is the 12 step program. Those are typically 30 days long. There’s the dual diagnosis program. They go for the underlying mental, emotional disorder, along with the addiction. There’s the long term non denominational Christian program. And then there’s also a psychosocial model program that’s located in Atlanta. We get really good results with that one.
Now we prefer to go with a more holistic approach. When we talk about holistic, that means programs that do not use medicated assisted treatment. If that’s something that someone is interested in doing, we’ll be glad to talk to you about it. I don’t know that we’ll be able to find a resource for that for you, but we’ll be glad to talk to you about it and see if we can provide some information to you that you might not have had. We’re not interested in steering you away from the direction you want to go with treatment. We’re just trying to provide information so you can make an informed decision about your future and get proper effective help. That’s what we’re here for.
