Dr. Rohit S. Adi, MD – Content Reviewer
Dr. Rohit S. Adi, MD, a native of Baroda, India, embarked on his medical journey at the Medical College of Baroda in Gujarat, India, where he earned his Medical Degree. His pursuit of knowledge led him to Chicago, Illinois, where he completed a residency in Internal Medicine at Cook County Hospital. Following this, he joined the medical staff at Palmerton Hospital and later established a private practice in Slatington, Pennsylvania.
In 1993, Dr. Adi and his family moved to Louisiana, where he was licensed by the Louisiana Board of State Medical Examiners. He quickly developed a deep affection for Louisiana’s culture while working as an Emergency Room Physician at Our Lady of Lourdes in Lafayette from 1992 to 1993. He then transitioned to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, where he has had a long-standing role in the Emergency Room since 1993.
Dr. Adi’s leadership extended beyond clinical practice where he has held positions such as the Medical Director for both the Our Lady of the Lake College Paramedic Program and the National Academy of Emergency Health Services. From 1996 to 2011, he was also the Associate Medical Director of Emergency Medicine at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center.
His career in the Emergency Room exposed him to the severe impacts of substance abuse on communities, a situation exacerbated by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. In response, he co-founded a prominent drug and alcohol treatment center in 2006, where he is the facility’s Medical Director, and he also assists Newman Interventions in reviewing and ensuring that accurate health-related information on drug and alcohol addiction reaches people across the US.
Dr. Adi is also passionate about expanding healthcare services. On a recent trip to India, he initiated plans to bring Emergency Health and Emergency Medical services to remote areas, leveraging his family’s healthcare facilities in India to build a network of Primary Care Facilities.
Outside of his professional life, Dr. Adi is a devoted family man, living in Baton Rouge with his wife and their four sons. He is a food enthusiast, both enjoying fine dining and cooking with produce from his organic garden. He aims to establish a sustainable garden at the drug and alcohol treatment center. Additionally, in 2018, he expanded his passion for sustainable living by purchasing a 5-acre farm, which includes two goats named Eli and Margaret, to develop an organic, sustainable vegetable farm for his family, friends, and the community.
