- Gather the Intervention Team: Select family members and close friends who can offer support and remain composed during the intervention. The goal is to have a unified group ready to convince the individual to seek treatment immediately.

- Plan for Medical Detox: Alcohol addiction nearly always requires medical detox due to the high risk of dangerous withdrawal symptoms like seizures or delirium tremens. Choose a facility that specializes in this aspect.
- Unified Intervention Approach: Just like drug interventions, a supportive, unified group is key. Emphasize the immediate need for detox to avoid life-threatening complications.
- Immediate Transfer to Detox if not connected to the Treatment Facility: After gaining agreement, immediately escort the individual to the detox center. Delaying this can lead to a change of heart or increased medical risks.
